Hispanic Media Definition: A form of mass communication in the Spanish language that provides the public with news, education, data, advertisements, promotional messages and entertainment. This information may be delivered through newspapers, magazines, television, billboards, direct mail, telephone, fax, Internet, radio and public live performances.
ALL Washington Hispanic Media Association (WAHMA) members are bound by its By Laws and Code of Ethics. If violated, the member in question may be brought before the Board of Directors and may be removed for cause by a simple majority vote of the Board.
Member of WAHMA must perform to the highest standards of professionalism. Compliance with the Code of Ethics ensures a level of consistency in all of our professional relationships. The focus of ethics in our field of practice is to ensure the interests of the Washington State Hispanic Community and that they are protected at all times.

WAHMA members must strive to serve the Washington State Hispanic Community with thoroughness, honesty and to strive to deliver responsible content.

Professional integrity is the cornerstone of our credibility.

We share a dedication to ethical and legal behavior and adopt this code.

The content produced and expressed by WAHMA members will be honest and fair in gathering, interpreting and reporting.

Information should be tested for accuracy from all sources and care should be exercised to avoid inadvertent error.

Deliberate distortion is never permissible.

Recognize that gathering and reporting information may cause harm or discomfort to some.

Pursuit of the news is not a license for harm, anger or arrogance. Show good taste.

Clarify and explain news coverage and invite dialogue with the public.

Encourage the public to voice grievances with the news media when compelled.

Admit mistakes and correct them promptly.
* Integrity: All members must conform to WAHMA Code of Ethics and its Articles of Incorporation.
* Honesty: All members must practice truthfulness and fairness in dealing with others, and must not engage in fraud or deceit. Members must disclose any potential conflicts of interest to the WAHMA Board of Directors before advocating any position to WAHMA.
* Equitable: All members must be impartial and just in dealings with others. WAHMA members shall strive to provide equal time to opposing views and parties on key issues affecting the Hispanic community.
* Accountable: Each member must be responsible for their own actions and conduct. A member maybe required, if necessary, to give an account of their behavior to the WAHMA Board of Directors.
* Obligations: All members have a duty to others, which compels them to follow the By-laws of WAHMA and all regulatory codes and laws and to protect the best interest of the Washington State Hispanic Community.
* Trustworthy: All members must ensure respect, discretion and confidentiality with regard to all professional relationships among each other.
The content of this document can be amended from time to time by a majority vote of the WAHMA Board of Directors
